Vitamin C Skincare Products Are Being Used To Treat Aging Skin And Stretch Marks

With the advent of Vitamin C skincare products, we now have another natural compound which, when added to skin care formulas, can help improve and maintain the integrity of our skin. More and more scientific studies show that supplementing a diet with vitamins and minerals is important in order to maintain the youthful appearance of our skin. In addition, their use is also beneficial for the treatment of various skin conditions. Many people also consume Vitamin C daily in order to help stimulate their immune system, and to fight bacterial and viral infections.

In order to properly protect our skin from the sun, we have been advised by doctors and dermatologists to apply sunscreen. These formulas contain natural and synthetic chemicals and help block out ultraviolet radiation. A double blind research study was performed testing the efficacy of oral Vitamin C to determine if it offered protection against UV damage from the sun. The group that consumed oral Vitamin C had less free radical damage to their skin compared to the group that did not receive that nutrient. Free radicals are formed from various sources such as cigarette smoke, alcohol consumption, and barbequed foods.

If we smoke, drink, or plan to be out in the sun for a prolonged period of time, we should also consider taking Vitamin C along with the antioxidants selenium, SOD, Vitamin E, and beta carotene.

Although applying a Vitamin C skincare product to our skin before going out in the sun is very beneficial, we should still use a sunscreen to protect ourselves from UVA and UVB radiation. Some of these skin formulas may also contain other antioxidant nutrients which may further help improve the texture of our skin, reduce wrinkles, and moisturize the skin. Daily consumption of these nutrients will not only keep our skin looking healthy, but can help prevent free radicals from undermining our health.

The skin condition known as acne can be treated with either antibiotics, or with a variety of skin creams that contain herbal extracts or benzoyl peroxide.

However, over-the-counter acne medications and prescription drugs may cause irritating side effects for some people. Up until now, acne has been mainly treated with retinoids (which are a derivative of Vitamin A). Treatment of this skin condition in the future may include oral and topical application with a Vitamin C skincare serum. Since this nutrient has been shown to have anti-inflammatory properties and is helpful with healing wounds, it may be of value in treating skin lesions associated with acne.

There are a number of Vitamin C skincare products on the market and they are available in different price ranges.

It is confusing for a consumer to know which product is the best, and which ones will produce the most beneficial results. Even though these formulas have several skin enhancing benefits, they also have their shortcomings. Some, if not most of these skin care serums and creams on the market, will lose their effectiveness since they oxidize once exposed to the air.

When possible, try to purchase only those formulas that have an expiration date so that you can assure yourself of purchasing a fresh product. Stabilized Vitamin C skincare formulas are also available, and they normally retain their potency longer than those that are not stabilized. For the most part, stabilized formulas are more expensive than unstabilized formulas and these serums also have been known to oxidize. You may wish to try different formulas to see which best retains its potency and at the same time offers better skin enhancing results.

Some topical Vitamin C skincare manufacturers use a fat soluble form of Vitamin C known as Ascorbyl Palmitate.

This compound, when added to formulas, has been shown to retain its potency longer and to be more stable than products that contain L-ascorbic acid. However, products that contain Ascorbyl Palmitate do not boost collagen levels and rejuvenate the skin as well as those formulas that contain L-ascorbic acid. Topical Vitamin C skincare formulas are certainly beneficial for reducing wrinkles and treating eye puffiness and should become part of our daily anti aging skin care regimen.

Many women develop stretch marks during pregnancy. Fortunately, there are a number of treatment options for them to choose from. This skin condition has several stages in its development and the earlier it is treated, there is a much better chance of it being successfully managed. Some women, who like to frequent the beach, tend to avoid going there or they may cover up their bodies in order to conceal this skin condition. Even though this condition frequently occurs during pregnancy, childbearing itself is not believed to be the primary cause. Instead, a particular type of hormone called glucocorticoids, which are found in higher concentrations during this time period, are believed to be the cause.

Some women have resorted to treating their stretch marks medically and have been treated with the newer laser options, since they are less invasive.

Other people are more interested in treating their condition naturally, and have used different skin care creams available on the market. The use of a topical Vitamin C skincare serum has been shown to be helpful in treating stretch marks. Our body and skin contain two different proteins called collagen and elastin. Elastin is a type of protein that is elastic, and it helps the skin to stretch. Collagen, on the other hand, is a tougher protein and its main function is to keep the skin firm. As we age, there is a decrease of this protein in our body, and this will result in the development of wrinkles and sagging skin.

It is important to treat stretch marks at the earliest stage of development, since they are more easily treatable at this point. In addition, one must be patient and allow for up to 1 year of treatment with a Vitamin C skincare formula before expecting any significant results. Also, proper diet and exercise may also be considered as additional treatment options for this skin condition.

As always, you may wish to consult with your dermatologist if you have severe acne or rosacea before using a Vitamin C skincare formula. For those that do not have irritated skin or skin allergies, you should strongly consider adding this beneficial and natural anti-aging formula to your daily skin care regimen.
